Protect your belongings
All household goods carriers are required to assume some level of liability for your shipment while it is in their care. Wheaton’s two protection plans, Limited Liability and Replacement Value, put your mind at ease while your goods are in transit.

Limited Liability
Under this option, you limit Wheaton's liability by specifically releasing the shipment at a value of $0.60 per pound per article.

EXAMPLE: 5,000 pound shipment
COVERAGE: 5,000 x $0.60 = $3,000 total liability coverage. Claim settlements are based upon weight not value.
COST: There is no additional charge for this coverage.

Replacement Value (Non-depreciated settlement)
Replacement Value covers the full repair or replacement of lost or damaged property. You must declare a minimum replacement value of $5,000 or $5.00 per pound times the weight of the shipment, whichever is greater. You can also declare a lump sum that exceeds $5.00 per pound times the weight of the shipment.

EXAMPLE: 5,000 pound shipment
COVERAGE: Minimum of $25,000 (valued at $5.00 per pound). Claim settlements are based on the repair or replacement cost with no depreciation applied.
COST: Cost is based upon the total valuation declared and the Deductible Option you select. For a shipment declared at $25,000 with no deductible, the cost is $260. With a $250 deductible, the cost is $194 and with a $500 deductible, the cost is $163.*

For further explanation on valuation options, ask for the Carrier Liability Options brochure from your local Wheaton Agent. It’s also a good idea to check your existing homeowner’s policy, since coverage may already be provided by your insurer.
