Tips for Keeping Sane During Your Move

June 24, 2011 | Moving Guides & Tips

Organize. When the belongings in your house are being taken a part, taken off walls and packaged away, things are going to get crazy. Keep track of all the important dates involving your relocation process in your planner. Have a schedule broken down week-by-week of things you want to accomplish. The moving day will creep up on you fast, so be prepared.

Keep records. Make sure you save all of the documents exchanged between you and your moving company. If you need to look back for reference later on for a claim or a question in general, it is essential to have those forms on hand.

Don’t wait until the last minute. Make sure you give yourself enough time to pack up a room. If you have not cleaned out the room beforehand, chances are you are going to come across a lot of old memories that have been buried away for all those years. And with that, it is easy to get sidetracked.

Take your time while packing and label your cartons. Stick to the labels; keep the bedroom items in the bedroom-designated cartons, and the office items with the office-designated cartons, don’t mix the two. This will make the unpacking process a whole lot easier.

Moving day is a hectic day no matter how prepared you are. But if you follow a few of these tips, it might make the day just a little less stressful for you.
